The 2010 Miss America contest is underway at Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino in Las Vegas. Preliminary competitions throughout the week will lead up to the pageant’s final crowning of a new winner on Saturday, Jan. 30, 2010.
This marks the fifth consecutive year the pageant has been hosted at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino (www.planethollywoodresort.com).
With the addition of Miss Puerto Rico, this year’s competition features 53 Miss America contestants. Competition areas include Interview, Lifestyle & Fitness, Talent and Evening Wear.
This year’s winner will follow in the footsteps of 2009 Miss America Katie Stam of Indiana. The Miss America Organization is one of the nation’s leading achievement programs and the world’s largest provider of scholarship assistance for young women. Last year, the Miss America Organization and its state and local organizations made available more than $45 million in cash and scholarship assistance.
